Half-training Wk3R4
5.52 miles - 1:09:23; Overall pace of 12:34; 11:22, 13:25, 14:56, 12:22, 11:57, 5:20
Obviously, I wasn’t going for consistency with this run. Between cold temps, tweaky knees and ankles, GI issues (what else is new?), and my lowest level of motivation I’ve yet experienced, this was the closest I’ve come to canceling a run. But a couple things got me out there:
- Blabbing for the last 3 weeks about how it’s my goal to not miss a single training run for my first half-marathon….ever….for any reason.
- My awesome DoLife buddy, Amanda. She actually was racing in a 5k today, and I told her how awesome it was that we were kind of running “together”. I would’ve felt like such a tool if I had bailed.
- The crazy realization that I had this last week: Running is starting to feel more comfortable than walking.
Whaaaaat? Yep. I’m not sure I totally get that, but as I limp around, feeling stiff, worried that I’m not gonna make it up a flight of 6 stairs, I have a confidence that if I start up a run at an easy pace, I’ll start feeling better. 3-years-ago-Josh would laugh in my face if he could hear me say that!
