Worth the Pain

Half-Marathon Training Week 2 - Run 4
5.0 miles - 1:00:35 / 12:07 pace
Splits:  12:48; 12:34; 11:52; 12:08; 11:43

The run itself went quite well. I was really enjoying mile 3…it seemed so easy and fast somehow. The last mile was a little quicker, mainly motivated by desperation to finish as soon as possible. 

Towards the end, the ol’ gut started getting uncomfortable. I was able to finish strong, but as soon as I sat down in the car, I was miserable. The ride home was unpleasant, and when I had parked in my spot at home, I waited 5-10 minutes to get out because I couldn’t bear the thought of moving. Even as I type this - almost a full hour post-run - I’m still really hurting. I’m hoping that I can try going to bed soon, cuz I’m tired.

Regardless of the pain, I’m glad I did the run. It’s officially my longest distance in 2012, and a really good pace, given the distance. It’s weird, but I so look forward to long run days…it’s kind of the highlight of my week! :)
