Half-training Wk5Run3
4.07 miles in 58:20; 14:19 Pace; 13:35, 14:37, 15:13, 14:18
Well, hallelu-yer! I took it pretty easy and cautious today, worried that I’d get pain in the foot in the first 5 minutes and have to call it off, but I got through the whole thing without any issues! In fact, mile 4 felt like I was just starting to settle in and was ready for more. I guess it took 2-3 miles for my body to say...
Half-training Wk5Run2
2.02 Miles, 29:10 Pace: 14:24; 14:08, 14:29
Bleh…GI issues and pain in left foot that made me worried PF is coming back cut this 4-miler short. I’m going to ice the foot, carefully plan my food intake, and hope to get 4 tomorrow.
Also, shoulders/arms are feeling extremely sore from attempting Day one of this pullup...
Half-training Wk5Run1
3.01 miles - 40:21, Pace: 13:24; 14:09, 13:20, 12:44 (w00t! for negative split action!)
I took it fairly easy today, as I am still recovering from last Friday. I was worried that I was going to be running in snow and single digits, so it was kind of funny to look at clear and 18 and think “Yay!” ;)
Woah… I really am changing. I just caught myself doing leg lifts in bed, cuz I thought, “Since I’m lying here, I may as well work on my abs.”

Half-training Week4Run2
4.01 miles. 46:09 - 11:30 Pace. 10:50, 13:03, 11:02, 11:08
Well, dang! Except for mile 2 (stoplight at intersection and a walk break on a steep hill), that’s the most consistent I think I’ve ever been with my splits. And my goal for the half-marathon in 2.5 months is an 11:30 pace. Tonight was supposed to be a 4-mile run at goal race pace…..uh….NAILED IT! lol…
I...
DLC: February Goals
Weight Loss: Since I nearly doubled my January goal (which may have been set a bit too conservatively), I’m going to up the goal by a couple pounds. So I want to be down 6 more el-bees by March 1. Quantifiable: Goal weight = 183
Continue the perfect track record on MyFitnessPal. Being conscious of what (and how much) I’m putting in my body every day helps. Quantifiable: 29 days in...
DLC: January Goals Assessment
So here were my stated goals on January 1, with February 1 assessment in bold/italics beneath each:
1. Lose 1 lb per week in January; weigh 194 lbs by Feb. 1st by counting calories and running at least 4x per week. January starting weight: 198
Feb 1: Wow…maybe I underestimated. I’m at 189 now, for a loss of 9 lbs!
2. Only consume ONE soda per week. (I had kicked it before, and it...

Half-training Wk4Run1
3 miles 35:29; 11:38, 12:36, 11:15 - 11:50 pace
Sweet…My goal for the half-marathon is 2:30, which is an 11:27 pace. So my first and third miles were pretty much right on track for that, and my middle mile was consistent with what my average pace has been for the last couple weeks - and that was with stopping to tie my shoe….twice.
I did have a little bit of pain in my right hip - a...
Half-training Wk3R4
5.52 miles - 1:09:23; Overall pace of 12:34; 11:22, 13:25, 14:56, 12:22, 11:57, 5:20
Obviously, I wasn’t going for consistency with this run. Between cold temps, tweaky knees and ankles, GI issues (what else is new?), and my lowest level of motivation I’ve yet experienced, this was the closest I’ve come to canceling a run. But a couple things got me out there:
Blabbing for the...
Challenge Accepted: Initial Thoughts of "Do Life... →
wimmernotloser:
When I first read this week’s challenge, I was TERRIFIED. I am not shy in person, but I am not always comfortable getting to know a stranger in a very short amount of time, especially when it isn’t face to face.
Well, I really should not have been worried, because I think I ended up with the most…
My awesome buddy thinks that I am awesome....
50 pushups and 1:50 plank.. Ow.

Worth the Pain
Half-Marathon Training Week 2 - Run 4 5.0 miles - 1:00:35 / 12:07 pace Splits: 12:48; 12:34; 11:52; 12:08; 11:43
The run itself went quite well. I was really enjoying mile 3…it seemed so easy and fast somehow. The last mile was a little quicker, mainly motivated by desperation to finish as soon as possible.
Towards the end, the ol’ gut started getting uncomfortable. I was able to...

Do Life Challenge - Week 2
WEEK TWO CHALLENGES:
(Since we’re all at different places in our health and fitness journeys, there will be some differing challenges.)
Do something out of the ordinary for a stranger. Find a way to brighten someone’s day. Pay for an elderly couple’s meal at the restaurant. Give a homeless man a blanket. Volunteer. Compliment someone. Do something out of your way. Something,...
Time Trial And Error
My dad (who coached college cross-country for 30+ years) approved of my Hal Higdon training plan, and suggested I do a 1-mile time trial, to push myself and do 1 mile as fast as possible. I had intended to go to the public high school down the street to use their track, but apparently they have it fenced off and locked gates. =/
Plan B had me drive to a trail that I know is paved and fairly...

Do Life Challenge
Oh look…an hour past my bedtime, and I’m finally getting around to this post. (Bonus: can you find all 9 links?)
Week 1

Assess yourself and write down your current stats in all five areas. Do you want to lose six...

Night Runner
3.01 miles - 37:43 - 12:31 pace
9:30 - 10:15pm is pretty dark around here. Especially on the Sand Creek Trail; my headlamp was literally the only light around most of the time.
